Obituary

Peter Adrian Thomas died on Wednesday April 25th with his beloved wife Nancy at his side. They had just returned from a long anticipated trip to their vacation home in Maine.
Peter was born in 1933 in Watertown to Phyllis Piper and Melvin Thomas. He is predeceased by his older brother Leland Thomas of San Francisco, a tugboat captain, and younger sister Lucinda Wright of Greenville, NC, a Dean at North Carolina University at Chapel Hill.
Peter attended the Rhode Island School of Design before serving in the army in the Korean Conflict as a medical illustrator in San Francisco. This assignment reignited his love of the west coast and it's natural beauty.
After his service, Peter resumed his passion for architecture and returned to the east coast. Peter practiced architecture in the greater Boston area. By 1965 he had renovated a home in Lincoln for his young family.
Peter designed high end homes and commercial properties. His work was featured in "Architectural Digest". He took pleasure in attention to all the details of the design process including Interior design and landscaping. He was the founder of Lincoln Architects who designed projects throughout New England and the greater U.S. Peter married Nancy Jacobs Coons in a backyard wedding in 1994. They resided in Lincoln where they enjoyed the gardens at their home, and spending time at their antique farmhouse in Maine. In Maine, Peter loved exploring on his Gator and firing up the old beehive oven to make pizza even on the hottest August day.
Peter was an accomplished watercolor artist and was accepted into The New England Watercolor Society in the 1980s. He also had a passion for sailing, wooden boats, historic trains, gardening and his beloved Schnauzers.
Peter is survived by his wife Nancy, his five adored children; Erik Thomas, Christopher Thomas, Kathy Mandelbaum, Ellen Greenberg, and Fred Coons. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and step-grandchildren. Peter will always be remembered for his unique wry sense of humor.
He will be missed by his many friends and family. Services will be private.
Expressions of sympathy in Peter's memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
